The Constitution was written such a long time ago so there are several strengths and weaknesses.
I believe that strength is that it provides a strong foundation when it comes to protecting us it
provides a government for us the people of the United States. It gives us the people the freedom
to live life the way we want without the government making us do things that we don’t agree
with.
The weakness that I feel that the U.S, Constitution was written such a long time ago some of the
things are out dated and the information is very concrete not allowing for room for process for
change. We are given the opportunity to vote for the politicians that we want to serve for us but
we don’t actually get to vote on new laws and/or policies.

correct the weakness.
In order to maintain the strength of the U.S constitution, the government should not change or
make an amendment without letting the people of the state aware.

Utilizing the worksheet below, develop detailed paragraphs that focus on the first main point for
your final paper. For each section, a minimum of one fully-developed paragraph is required. A
fully developed paragraph should be 5 sentences in length. Each paragraph should include at
least one in-text APA citation that provides support for the topic.
At least two scholarly sources from the Ashford University library (not including your textbook)
with in-text citations utilized within your paragraphs are required. Two new sources should be

1. Branches of Government: Judiciary.
A. One strength of one the judiciary

The power for a fair trial is the strength of the United States judiciary. An accused person
is innocent until proven guilty. The state’s job is to prove that the person being accused is
actually guilty of what they are being accused of. T his allows the person being accused to
know that the justice system will make the best decision and the decision is not impartial. These
systems help protect the ones being accused. Furthermore, cases are conducted in a speedy and
efficient manner making the accused spend less time in the courtroom (“Judicial power in a
federal system: Canada, United States, and Germany”, 2013)
This makes the accused spend fewer resources in their cases.
B. One weakness of the judiciary

One of the weaknesses of the United States judicial system is the process in where they
make a determination whether a person is guilty of what they are being accused of. Even though
a police officer can collect evidence in the correct procedure found in the policies, the evidence
might be rejected in court and not allow it to be used. The police officers collect information,
however, they don’t follow proper protocol and eventually the cases are thrown out. For
example, if a police officer presents a recorded tape of the plaintiff, but the plaintiff was unaware
that they not being recorded, then the recording can be thrown out (Potter, 1929).
C. One option to maintain the strength of the judiciary

For example, the judges and magistrates are appointed by the other organs of the
government. Through the constitution, they also have the powers to remove a sitting judge or
magistrate (“Judicial power in a federal system: Canada, United States, and Germany”, 2013). If
the magistrates and judges were allowed to do their work without interference, then the criminal
justice system would be fair to all.
D. One option to correct the weakness of the judiciary

The procedure and regulations required by the police in collecting evidence should be
reviewed and changed. This is very important because it would not allow people who committed
the crimes to walk away without any consequences due to someone gathering wrong evidence.
For example, the legislature should change the laws in the collection of evidence to include
secret recordings in cases of high profile people and where gathering evidence might be hard
(Potter, 1929).
